About

La Abadía del Crimen was written by Paco Menéndez and Juan Delcán and published by Opera Soft in 1988 for the Amstrad CPC. abadia is a JavaScript reimplementation of La Abadía del Crimen that runs in the browser, using graphics assets from the Amstrad CPC version and building on an existing disassembly and SDL port of the original game made by other developers. It is described as fully playable, though still a work in progress with some remaining bugs.

How it differs from the original

It reuses the original Amstrad CPC game's assets rather than recreating them, and adds debug controls not present in the original, such as advancing the in-game time of day or switching between fixed camera angles.

Getting started

It can be played directly in a browser at the project's site. The cursor keys move the character Guillermo (holding cursor-down switches control to the second character, Adso), space drops a held item, and Escape resets the game.

Known limitations

  • completeness: This version is a work in progress and is fully playable but may have bugs.
