About
Ascii Patrol is a C++ recreation of the arcade game Moon Patrol rendered entirely in ASCII art, buildable for Windows, Linux, macOS, DOS (via Watcom), and HTML5 browsers (via Emscripten). It's playable, though development has halted.
How it differs from the original
Beyond its ASCII-art presentation, it adds features not in the arcade original, including mobile touch controls, installability as a browser PWA, and an online high-score server.
Getting started
Pre-built packages are available via Snap (Linux) and the Arch User Repository, or it can be built from source with CMake on Windows, Linux, or macOS, or with Emscripten for a browser build. It's also playable directly in a browser without installing anything.
