About

This is a from-scratch reimplementation of the executable for Bedlam 2: Absolute Bedlam, an unfinished DOS game that was never officially released, rebuilt to run on modern Windows and Linux via SDL. It requires the original game's data files, which are not included, and compiles into a fully playable single-player build with known crashes fixed.

How it differs from the original

Because the original game was never finished, the remake overhauls some mechanics and balance — including reworking the overkill-robot balance and skipping levels whose files were never created — and adds selectable screen resolutions from 480p up to 1440p.

Getting started

On Windows, the compiled executable and its required SDL2 runtime libraries need to sit in the same folder as the original Bedlam 2 game files; on Linux, prebuilt binaries are available alongside a separate setup guide, and specific save-folder permissions must be set for save files to work.

Known limitations

  • compatibility: Some level files appear to never have been created and are skipped.
