About

Sid Meier's Colonization is a strategy game originally released in 1994; this project remakes it based on the original's graphics files, a copy of which is required to play. cc94 is an early-preview (version 0.2.0) remake of Sid Meier's Colonization, playable in a web browser or built natively on Linux. It reuses the original game's graphics files rather than creating new art, so a copy of Colonization is required to play. It's released under the AGPLv3+ license.

Getting started

A copy of the original Colonization is needed to supply its graphics files. The multiplatform web version can be played directly in a browser; a native Linux build is also available by installing the Boost serialization and SDL2 development libraries and compiling with make. In-game, players start from the lower-left button, move units with the numpad, and use dedicated keys to build colonies, clear forests, or plow fields; a built-in map editor is accessible via an in-game console (opened with the tilde key) with commands for setting terrain biome, altitude, and features like rivers or roads.

Requires original assets. A copy of Colonization is required to play, as it uses original graphics files.
