Elona: 2 Open Source Clones Compared

ElonaFoobar's own README states the project has been archived in favor of OpenNefia, directing contributors there instead. ElonaFoobar is a C++ rewrite derived from Elona v1.22 with a Lua mod system, listed as playable, but running it requires copying the graphic and sound folders from that same original v1.22 release into the build directory. OpenNefia, its stated successor, is described by its own developers as still very much a work in progress and is listed unplayable, built instead as a moddable engine reimplementation that requires Visual Studio and the .NET 8 SDK to build from source.
