Encounter HD is a near-total rewrite in C and assembler, released commercially on itch.io and Steam with added graphics, sound, an achievement system, and a menu-based control option alongside classic typed commands — only the original story, map, and some text survive from the 1983 BASIC version. Encounter-BASIC-version preserves the original BASIC source itself, recorded across a YouTube series documenting early improvement work, before that effort was restarted from scratch in C/assembler as the separate Encounter HD project.
