This is the recovered source code for an unpublished Days of Thunder game for the NES — distinct from the Days of Thunder game Mindscape actually published in 1990 — recovered from the personal archives of programmer Chris Oberth. The source originally depended on specialized ROMulator development hardware to build; the repo includes a custom MS-DOS-era assembly tool the uploader wrote to assemble the code under a standard iNES header without that hardware, and the original source is otherwise left untouched aside from one documented controller-input fix.
Getting started
Building requires an MS-DOS environment (real DOS 6.x or DOSBox); running a single provided batch file performs a clean build and produces a ROM file with an iNES header that works with most NES emulators and flash carts.

The source code was unearthed from programmer Chris Oberth's personal archives; the Video Game History Foundation published an article about its recovery.
