About
Earth Shaker is a Sinclair ZX Spectrum game written in 1990 by Michael Batty. EarthShakerDS is a Nintendo DS remake of the 1990 ZX Spectrum game Earth Shaker, where players collect all the diamonds in each level while avoiding falling boulders and fire. It includes a full menu system (level select, sound test, custom levels), a built-in level editor whose output is compatible with both the DS build and a companion Mac OS X port, and runs via a flash cart or a DS emulator such as DeSmuME, built using devKitARM and the WoopsiGfx library.
How it differs from the original
As a DS remake, it adds a built-in level editor for creating and sharing custom levels and a dedicated sound-test mode, neither part of the original 1990 ZX Spectrum release.
Getting started
Navigate the DS menu with the d-pad and Select/A buttons to start the game, level-select, or open the editor. During play, the d-pad moves the player while the X/Y/B/A face buttons interact with (push or collect) the block above, left, below, or right without moving — useful for maneuvering boulders and diamonds. Select brings up a once-per-life map screen, Start pauses, and pressing L and R together restarts the level if you get stuck.
