About

FireMadness is a top-down bullet-hell shooter built with Castle Game Engine, Free Pascal and Lazarus, released as free and open-source software for Windows and Linux. The player eliminates waves of 3 or more enemy bots that escalate from an easy form through tougher medium and hard forms, with hard-form enemies occasionally spawning a boss when destroyed.

Getting started

Move with the arrow keys and fire in the four cardinal directions with WASD, holding the fire button down for rapid fire. Movement is locked to one axis at a time and automatically stops at crossroads, though its direction can be reversed. The player starts with 300 HP, so surviving escalating groups of enemies is the main challenge.

Known limitations

  • platform: Linux version requires 32-bit GTK+2 libraries.
