About
Gish is a physics-based platformer originally made by Cryptic Sea and Edmund McMillen. FreeGish is the open-source continuation of Gish, built from the game's code after it was open-sourced in 2010. It ships without the original game's assets, using community-made levels instead, and adds features not present in the original, such as multiplayer campaign play. It targets Windows and Linux and is currently playable.
How it differs from the original
The game runs on community-made levels and artwork rather than the original's assets (players who own the original assets can drop them into a specific folder to use them instead), and it adds multiplayer support for the campaign that wasn't in the original.
Getting started
Download the latest release and run the included executable (./gish or gish.exe); if a prebuilt version isn't available for your system, it can be compiled from source per the repo's compile guide. Owners of the original game assets can copy them into a designated folder and pick between the original or FreeGish datapack from the Options menu.
