About
GridWars is a game built with the BlitzMax game engine (a BASIC-like scripting language), maintained here to improve compatibility with embedded systems such as the Raspberry Pi; it runs on Windows, Linux, and macOS.
Getting started
Building it requires the BlitzMax compiler — either the official one or the BMX-NG fork, which has better ARM and cross-compilation support. Linux and Raspberry Pi builds need several system libraries installed first, and cross-compiling to the Raspberry Pi requires manually creating cross-compiler symlinks and patching a build flag that otherwise fails.
History
GridWars was originally created by Mark Incitti in 2006.
