About
The original Atari 2600 Haunted House cartridge contains nine built-in game variations, each adding difficulty on top of the last — from a tutorial-like first game to a final mode with randomized floor plans where locked doors no longer stop the enemies. HauntedHouse is a recreation of the Atari 2600 game built for a one-game-a-month challenge. Only the first two of the original's nine built-in game variations were completed: a tutorial mode with three visible enemies, and the first 'real' mode where the walls are hidden.
How it differs from the original
The clone implements only 2 of the original cartridge's 9 built-in game variations; the remaining seven, including modes with locked doors, additional enemies, and a fully randomized final challenge, were never completed.
History
It was built for an October 'One Game a Month' challenge; time ran out before all nine of the original's variations could be implemented, so the author uploaded the partial version within the event's grace period, intending to finish the rest the following year.
Known limitations
