About

Jagged Alliance 2 is a 1999 tactical role-playing game developed by Sir-Tech Canada, later ported to Linux by Tribsoft; two commercial expansion packs (Unfinished Business, and later Wildfire) followed, and the core game was eventually combined into the Jagged Alliance 2 Gold Pack. JA2-Stracciatella Continued is a community-maintained continuation of the JA2-Stracciatella project, aiming to run Jagged Alliance 2 on modern Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android systems, improve stability, fix bugs, and support mod development; it requires the data files from a legitimately owned copy of the original game and supports eight localizations. Development is active.

Getting started

Point the game (via its optional launcher, or by editing its configuration file directly) at the folder where you've installed the original Jagged Alliance 2, so it can use that game's own data files; non-English installs need the matching localization selected, since two different Russian releases are supported separately.

History

The original JA2-Stracciatella project was run by a developer known as Tron from 2006 until development ceased in 2010, accumulating over 7,000 commits reverse-engineering and porting the game before that project's homepage went offline; this repository continues that work under a new team.

Requires original assets. Requires original Jagged Alliance 2 game installation; data files from the original game are used by JA2-Stracciatella.

Additional notes

License
Code contributed since a specific 2004 commit is released to the public domain, while the licensing of earlier contributions from the original maintainer is unknown; the original 2004 Jagged Alliance source release itself used a separate Strategy First 'SFI-SCLA' license.
