About
Galaxian is Namco's 1979 fixed shooter, the first game in the Galaxian series, in which the player controls the starfighter Galaxip defending Earth from diving formations of aliens. Kanixian is a small shooter its author describes as a programming-study exercise, playable with a gamepad or keyboard through the Pyxel web launcher; the player shoots down incoming enemies, with airborne enemies worth more points, and the game is themed around a crab rather than a spaceship.
How it differs from the original
Per its own readme, the game's enemies don't perform formation flying, and there is no capture-beam mechanic, both noted by the author as simplifications.
Getting started
Playable directly in a browser via the Pyxel web launcher; a package for handheld game devices (.pyxapp) is also provided.
Known limitations
- gameplay: Enemy formations do not engage in formation flying.
