Mafia: Toolkit

About

Mafia II (2010) and Mafia III (2016) are 2K's open-world action-adventure crime games, each set in a different fictional American city across a different decade; Mafia: Definitive Edition (2020) is a remake of the original 2002 Mafia. Mafia: Toolkit is a Windows modding toolkit for the Mafia game series, providing parsers and editors for the games' proprietary file formats (SDS archives, materials, XBin containers, actors, cutscenes) plus a DirectX 11-based 3D map editor. It supports Mafia II, Mafia II: Definitive Edition, Mafia III, and Mafia I: Definitive Edition (Mafia 1 Classic is explicitly not supported), and ships an integrated MCP server exposing 36 tools that let AI assistants browse and decode game archives, textures, materials, data tables, and stream maps directly.

Getting started

Building requires Windows, the .NET 8 SDK, and Visual Studio 2022; an optional native library (needing the Autodesk FBX SDK and PhysX 2.8.x) adds FBX model import/export and collision cooking support.

Additional notes

Detail
Supports SDS archive versions 19 (Mafia II/Definitive Edition) and 20 (Mafia III/Mafia I: Definitive Edition), with zlib/Oodle compression and automatic TEA-cipher decryption for encrypted archives.
