About
Max Payne is a 2001 third-person shooter developed by Remedy Entertainment, known for its neo-noir style, graphic-novel storytelling, and one of gaming's earliest uses of bullet-time. Max_Vita is a wrapper/port that loads and patches the original Android build of Max Payne Mobile so it runs natively on PS Vita hardware, effectively emulating a minimal Android environment around the unmodified Android binary. The author notes it is probably not entirely stable yet.
How it differs from the original
This is not a reimplementation but a wrapper around the original Android binary — the gameplay itself is unchanged from Max Payne Mobile, with the port replacing only the platform layer (kubridge/fdfix/OpenAL-Soft/vitaGL on Vita instead of Android).
Getting started
You need the .apk (v1.7) and .obb files from your own copy of Max Payne Mobile for Android. After installing the kubridge plugin (and optionally fdfix) on your Vita and extracting the runtime shader compiler, install the latest VPK from the Releases page, then extract the app's assets, native library, and .obb contents into a maxpayne folder on the Vita's storage as described in the README.
Known limitations
- stability: Port is not entirely stable yet, expect issues.
