About
Final Fantasy IX is a 2000 role-playing game developed and published by Square for the PlayStation, the ninth main entry in the Final Fantasy series. Memoria is an open-source community rewrite of the engine used by the PC release of Final Fantasy IX, aimed at adding features, fixing bugs and expanding modding. It is installed as a patch over an existing Steam or GOG copy of the game and includes a mod manager and downloader, a model viewer, and many quality-of-life options. Patchers are available for Windows, Linux and macOS.
How it differs from the original
Adds widescreen at all resolutions, frame rates of 60fps and higher, smoother camera movement, rendering improvements, controller analog movement, battle speed and turn-mode options, a Triple Triad card game option, and many bug fixes. Optional cheats include guaranteed stealing and easier minigames.
Getting started
You need Final Fantasy IX from Steam or GOG. Download the Memoria patcher for your platform, place it in the game folder next to the game's launcher, and run it; main settings are then available in the launcher, with further options in a configuration file in the game folder.
