About
Test Drive Unlimited is a 2006 racing game developed by Eden Games and published by Atari, set on a recreation of the Hawaiian island of Oʻahu with over 125 licensed cars and motorcycles. OpenTDU is a work-in-progress source port of the PC version of Test Drive Unlimited that aims to fix issues on modern systems (AI, rendering, security) and run on Windows, Linux and macOS. Progress is tracked by game mode: the car showcase, sandbox, login, cinematic viewer and boat tour modes are done, while free ride, garage and others are still in progress.
How it differs from the original
It adds cross-platform support, a Vulkan renderer, and developer tools such as a debug menu and standalone world, car and cinematic viewers. It ships no game assets and does not replace the original game.
Getting started
You need a legal copy of Test Drive Unlimited. Download a nightly build from the project's GitHub releases, then copy the binary and merge its EURO folder into your existing game folder, without replacing the original EURO folder.
Known limitations
- development: Project is work in progress; still in early development with various game features and systems under construction.
