About

Alan Wake is a 2010 action-adventure game by Remedy Entertainment, originally released on Xbox 360, in which a novelist searches for his missing wife in the town of Bright Falls, Washington. OpenAWE is an open-source reimplementation of Remedy's Alan Wake Engine (later called the Northlight Engine). Its main goal is to run Alan Wake and Alan Wake's American Nightmare portably, and later perhaps Quantum Break and Control. For now it offers a free-roaming camera for exploring game data rather than playable gameplay.

Getting started

Build it from source with CMake after installing the listed dependencies and the glslc shader compiler. Then run it, pointing it at your Alan Wake installation's data directory and the compiled shaders.

Requires original assets. Requires original Alan Wake game assets to run.

Additional notes

Controls
The free camera moves with WASD, R/F for up and down, and the arrow keys to look around; Q switches between keyboard and mouse camera control.
