Based on Dominion

About

Dominion was an online, text-based, persistent browser-based fantasy war game from Kamikaze Games that ran from about 2000 to 2012 before stopping indefinitely. OpenDominion is a free, open-source browser game closely based on Dominion, written in PHP on the Laravel framework and licensed under AGPLv3. It is playable online, with most systems complete, though some features such as in-game messages are not yet implemented.

How it differs from the original

Some original functionality is still missing, including in-game messaging and parts of the realm council. It uses its own assets rather than the original game's.

Getting started

Play in a web browser by registering on the project's live server; a public test server is also available. The original Dominion's scribes and an archived newbie guide are recommended for learning general gameplay.

History

The project exists because the original Dominion went defunct in 2012; its README credits members of the original Dominion community, including the creator of the DomSim simulator.

Known limitations

  • feature: Some features of the game have not been implemented yet; currently in development.
