About

World of Goo is a physics-based puzzle game by independent developer 2D Boy, released in 2008 for Windows and Wii, in which players build structures from goo balls to guide other goo balls to a goal. OpenGOO is a free, open clone of World of Goo released under GPLv3 and built with Qt5 and OpenGL. Its pre-Alpha2 version, with a new game engine and new level design, is described as under heavy development and not yet playable.

How it differs from the original

Pre-Alpha2 uses a new engine and new level design with its own assets rather than original World of Goo content.

Getting started

The README lists Qt5 (with the OpenGL module), GCC, QMake and Make as dependencies, but compile instructions are marked as coming soon. Command-line options include --fps for an FPS indicator and --level to start on a specific level.

Known limitations

  • development: Pre-Alpha2 is under heavy development and not playable yet.
