About
Pac-Man is a 1980 maze game developed and published by Namco for arcades, in which the player eats every dot in a maze while avoiding four ghosts. Pacman For Console is a Pac-Man game played in a text terminal and drawn with ASCII characters: C for Pac-Man, & for ghosts, and . and * for pellets and power pellets. It includes 9 premade levels and follows 13 gameplay rules that the author documents in the README.
How it differs from the original
Eating a ghost sends it back to its starting point, and points for consecutive ghosts go 20, 40, 80, 160. Extra lives are awarded at 1000, 2000, 4000 and so on. It also supports custom level files.
Getting started
Build and install with make, then run pacman with a level number from 1 to 9, or with the path to a custom level file. Move with the arrow keys or W, A, S, D. Instructions for making your own levels are included in the repository.
History
The author says he made it because he was tired of enabling Flash in his browser to play Pac-Man, and was bored one night.
