Performous

About

Performous draws on three music game series: Konami's Dance Dance Revolution (from 1998), the guitar-controller rhythm series Guitar Hero (from 2005), and Sony's SingStar karaoke games. Performous is an open-source karaoke, band and dancing game. One or more players perform a song and the game scores their performance. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is still actively developed.

How it differs from the original

It combines singing, instrument and dance play in one game. It supports songs in the UltraStar, Frets on Fire and StepMania formats and auto-detects SingStar, Guitar Hero and Rock Band microphones and instruments, as well as some dance pads.

Getting started

Prebuilt releases are available for Windows, macOS, several Ubuntu, Debian and Fedora versions, and as an AppImage. Weekly beta builds come from the master branch. On macOS, microphones may only work if you launch the executable inside the app bundle from the Terminal.

Known limitations

• platform: macOS users may need to launch Performous from the Terminal and specifically run Performous.app/Contents/MacOS/Performous for microphones to work.
