About

The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard is a 1998 action-adventure game by Bethesda Softworks, unique in the Elder Scrolls series for its predetermined character and forced third-person viewpoint. Redguard Unity is a from-scratch port of The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard to the Unity engine, developed by a separate team from Daggerfall Unity but sharing similar goals. It's in the earliest stages of development, currently focused on building asset loaders for 3D models and textures; a basic character controller already lets players explore the game's island as Cyrus, and a bundled model viewer can inspect and export the original's 3D models (.3D, .3DC, .ROB) as GLTF files.

How it differs from the original

Aims for vastly improved performance, more responsive controls, and better graphical fidelity than the original release, similar in intent to the Daggerfall Unity project.

Getting started

Windows builds can be downloaded from the project's releases page. The current build lets players explore the entire island as Cyrus using a basic character controller, and a model viewer on the launcher can inspect the game's 3D assets and export them as GLTF files.

Known limitations

  • development: Project is in earliest stages; focus is currently on making asset loaders for 3D models and textures.
