Reevengi
About
Resident Evil (1996), Resident Evil 2 (1998), and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis (1999) are Capcom's PlayStation survival horror games that established the series' fixed-camera, pre-rendered-background, zombie-outbreak formula. Reevengi is a background image and 3D model viewer for the original Resident Evil, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 games across their PS1 and PC releases (including several demos), letting users step through stages, rooms, and cameras, toggle wireframe/textured/gouraud rendering, and play back FMV movies. It's a viewing tool, not a game reimplementation, built on SDL with optional support for SDL_image, FFmpeg, PhysicsFS, and libxml2.
Getting started
Run from the command line with -basedir pointing at extracted game files (e.g. -basedir /demos/re2demo). Keyboard shortcuts let you step through stages, rooms, cameras, and animations, toggle rendering modes, dump room scripts, and view a map of camera and boundary data.
Known limitations
- graphics: Missing masks for background images in RE2 PC full game, RE2 PS1, RE3 PS1.
- rendering: RE3 PS1 has no model rendering support.
