About

The covered games are early-1990s id Software DOS titles — Keen Dreams, Catacomb 3-D and the wider Catacomb Adventure Series, Wolfenstein 3-D, Spear of Destiny, and Super 3-D Noah's Ark (a Wisdom Tree game built on a licensed Wolfenstein 3-D engine) — plus Jim Norwood's BioMenace. ReflectionHLE (formerly Reflection Keen) is a family of source ports for classic DOS games, inspired by the Chocolate Doom port and built on a shared backend: Reflection Keen Dreams, Reflection Catacomb 3-D, Reflection Wolfenstein 3D (covering Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny, and the DOS version of Super 3-D Noah's Ark), and Reflection BioMenace. It runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, and Android via a launcher or command-line interface, but does not include any original game data, which must be obtained separately.

Getting started

Launch via the ReflectionHLE launcher to see which supported game versions and required files are detected, or use command-line options like -gamever to start a specific game directly, skipping the launcher. Original game data files must be supplied separately; the launcher can autodetect existing installations or let you point it at a folder containing them.

History

The reconstructed BioMenace source — combining game/actor code from Keen Dreams, ID Engine code from Catacomb 3-D, and text-view code from Wolfenstein 3-D — was also later licensed for use in a separate commercial project, BioMenace Remastered.

Requires original assets. Does not include game data; original game files must be obtained separately.
