About
BeamNG.drive is a vehicle simulation sandbox by BeamNG GmbH featuring soft-body physics for realistic vehicle handling and damage, first released as a tech demo in 2013. Rigs of Rods is an open-source, GPLv3-licensed soft-body physics sandbox for simulating vehicles — cars, trucks, trains, boats, aircraft, and heavy machinery — with online multiplayer via dedicated servers and an in-game server browser. It originally launched in 2005 and has been maintained continuously since going open source in 2009.
Getting started
Download the latest version from the official Rigs of Rods website, or build from source using the official compilation guide for Windows and Linux; additional vehicles and terrains are added as separate community mods, installable in-game since version 2022.04.
History
Rigs of Rods began in 2005 and went open source under the GPLv2 (or later) in February 2009; it is now licensed under GPLv3 or later.
