About
Star Trek: Voyager – Elite Force is a 2000 first-person shooter developed by Raven Software and published by Activision, later ported to Mac OS and PlayStation 2. RPG-X (rpgxEF) is a modified build of the icculus.org Quake III engine used for the Elite Force compatibility patch, created to support the RPG-X2 mod by lifting several of the original engine's hardcoded limits that were causing problems for it. It's licensed under GPL v2, except for the game/cgame/UI code, which carries a separate license.
How it differs from the original
Compared to the stock engine, this build raises several hardcoded limits (entity count increased to 2048, model limit doubled, message and gamestate buffers quadrupled) and previously added optional graphical effects like bloom and motion blur, though those were later removed pending a newer renderer.
Getting started
Requires the original Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force pak files (pak0.pk3 through pak2.pk3, plus pak92.pk3 for expansion content) placed in a baseEF folder alongside the compiled engine binaries.
