R-Type is a 1987 horizontally scrolling shooter arcade game by Irem in which the player pilots the R-9 "Arrowhead" starship against the alien Bydo, using a detachable "Force" orb for extra protection and firepower. Rtype is an open-source remake that credits its graphical assets to OpenGameArt.org contributors Buch and cemkalyoncu rather than using original art; the project is currently unplayable and development has halted.
