About
Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is an MMORPG by Jagex, released in 2013 as a restored 2007 version of RuneScape, which has since grown into its own separately maintained live game shaped largely by player polls. RuneLite is a free, open-source client for Old School RuneScape, built for Windows, Linux, and macOS, that requires the player's own copy of the game to run.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the official OSRS client, RuneLite adds a plugin system through the RuneLite API that lets players extend and customize client functionality.
Getting started
It's built as a Gradle project and run from an IDE by launching its client class; since RuneLite is a client rather than a standalone game, players still need their own Old School RuneScape account and game files to play through it.
