About
Destruction Derby is a 1975 arcade driving game by Exidy, the company's first driving title; Exidy later licensed it to Chicago Coin, who sold it as Demolition Derby. Savage Wheels is a 2D car-combat arcade game in which players compete in a demolition-derby tournament, choosing from vehicles with distinct speed, armor, and damage stats, and collecting bonuses to boost or repair their car during matches. It's playable in-browser on itch.io or as a native build for Windows and Linux, including packages for Arch Linux, Gentoo, and Open Pandora.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original arcade driving game, Savage Wheels adds a campaign mode with character backstories for each vehicle's driver, plus hot-seat two-player and AI-melee modes.
Getting started
The easiest way to play is in the browser on itch.io; native builds are also available for Windows and Linux. Player 1 uses the arrow keys and Player 2 uses a WASD-style layout in local two-player matches.
