About

Shining in the Darkness is a 1991 role-playing game developed by Climax Entertainment and published by Sega for the Genesis, the first entry in the Shining series. SITDDISASM is a disassembly of Shining in the Darkness that documents the game's code and data — via commented assembly plus an accompanying wiki covering ROM/RAM maps and data formats — and can be reassembled into a bit-perfect copy of the original ROM using the provided tools, given the original US ROM file.

Getting started

Using the original US ROM file, a provided splitting tool extracts the game's binary data chunks, and a provided build tool reassembles everything — including any edits made to the extracted data or disassembled code — back into a ROM identical to the original.

Requires original assets. Requires the original US ROM file of Shining in the Darkness to extract data.
