Mario Kart is Nintendo's series of kart-racing games based on the Mario franchise, where players race go-karts on Mario-universe tracks while using power-up items, with some entries featuring guest characters from other franchises. SuperTuxKart is a free, open-source kart racing game that focuses on fun over realistic kart physics, released under the GNU GPL. It runs on hardware supporting OpenGL 3.3+ or OpenGL ES 3.0+ (Android 5.0+), covering GPUs from roughly 2010 onward, and supports online multiplayer.
How it differs from the original
SuperTuxKart ships entirely with its own original assets and characters rather than requiring or reusing any Mario Kart game data.
Getting started
Latest release binaries, both stable and preview builds, are available from the project's GitHub releases page, with instructions also available on the in-game help page. It builds for Linux, macOS, Windows, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
