About

This is the recovered source code and tools for Team 47 GoMan, a 3D fighting game engine originally built by 47-TEK using an evolution of the Reality Lab 3D API (which later became Microsoft's D3D), including machine-detection, physics, animation, and sound systems. The code disappeared from the web after 47-TEK's site went down and was later recovered from an old CD backup and re-released for free; there are no restrictions on using the code itself, but the original art, sound, characters, and storyline remain the property of 47-TEK and Coconuts Entertainment Japan.

Getting started

Building requires renaming several header and source files as documented in the repo, and linking against several DirectX SDK, DDK, and MSVC libraries; a shareware build can be produced by defining SHARE640, SHARE512, or SHARE320 in the preprocessor settings depending on the desired rendering mode.

History

The source code was originally distributed by 47-TEK on its own website but disappeared from the internet; by 2017 Wikipedia noted no known mirrors existed, until the uploader recovered a copy from an old CD backup and re-released it.

Additional notes

Trivia
3DFX's Brian Bruning praised the engine at the time as "the most impressive Direct3D Retained Mode application" running on Voodoo Graphics hardware.
