About
The Butterfly Effect (TBE) is an open-source physics puzzle game where players combine simple mechanical objects — cola bottles, balloons, butterflies, dominoes, springs, dynamite, seesaws, penguins — to reach a goal in the most convoluted way possible. It's described as fully playable at beta quality, with over 80 levels, vector-graphics rendering, translations into a dozen-plus languages, and support for GNU/Linux, Windows, and macOS.
Getting started
If you download the installer, launching it just puts a desktop icon in place to double-click; building from the source archive instead requires following the install and run guides included in the repo. The display language can be switched from an in-game menu (restart required) or set via a command-line environment variable.
Known limitations
- UI: Current user interface is being replaced; old UI still has issues.
- stability: Level creator will crash if you enter bogus text in the object editor.
Additional notes
- Known limitation
- Entering invalid/bogus text in the level editor's object editor is known to crash the game.
