The Hobbit disassembly

HaltedPlayableZX Spectrum

About

The Hobbit is an illustrated text adventure developed by Beam Software and published by Melbourne House in 1982, based on J. R. R. Tolkien's 1937 novel of the same name. This is a full disassembly of the ZX Spectrum version of The Hobbit, produced with the SkoolKit toolchain and published as a browsable, annotated code listing in both hexadecimal and decimal forms rather than a playable reimplementation.

Getting started

The disassembly can be browsed directly online in either hexadecimal or decimal format; building the current development version yourself requires installing SkoolKit and running the project's build tool, and you need to own a copy of the original game to legally disassemble it.

Requires original assets. You will need to own the original game in order to disassemble the game code.
