About

Unvanquished names two earlier mods as its inspiration: Gloom, a mod for Quake, and Natural Selection, a Half-Life mod blending FPS and RTS design created by Charlie 'Flayra' Cleveland (who went on to found Unknown Worlds Entertainment) — first released on Halloween 2002, with Natural Selection 2 following in 2012. Unvanquished is an open-source arena shooter with RTS elements, in which two asymmetric factions fight while also being able to build structures. It runs on the project's own Daemon engine, is cross-platform on Windows, macOS and Linux, and ships as free, redistributable game code and assets with online multiplayer support.

Getting started

To just play, download a ready-to-use build from the project's download page; to build from source, compile the Daemon engine and download the separate game asset package via the included downloader script, then run the resulting client or dedicated-server binary.
