About
Crimsonland is a 2003 top-down arena shooter with role-playing elements, developed by Finnish studio 10tons Entertainment and published by Reflexive Entertainment, later re-released digitally in 2014. Violetland is an open-source, cross-platform game similar to Crimsonland, in which the player helps a character named Violet fight off hordes of monsters using various weapons and unlockable special abilities. It's built on OpenGL, features a day/night cycle and non-disappearing corpses, and is localized into six languages.
Getting started
On Windows, if the install path contains Cyrillic characters the game fails to start; an included workaround script in the program folder can be run instead. On Linux it can be built with CMake plus the SDL, SDL_image, SDL_ttf, and SDL_mixer development libraries, with distro-specific package lists provided for Ubuntu, Fedora, OpenBSD, and NetBSD.

- Quirk
- On Windows, switching video-mode settings from the options screen isn't fully finalized — applying the change shuts the program down, and it must be manually restarted.
