About
Visual Pinball ("VP") is a freeware, source-available pinball table engine for Windows, including both a table editor and a simulator, which can be paired with Visual PinMAME to emulate ROM images from real pinball machines. This is the official continuation of Visual Pinball, an open-source pinball table editor and simulator started by Randy Davis and open-sourced in 2010. It renders tables via DirectX, OpenGL, or bgfx, supports over 1050 real pinball machine recreations plus 550+ original tables, integrates with PinMAME for real-machine ROM emulation, and runs on Windows, Linux, macOS, Android, and Raspberry Pi, with VR/XR, stereo 3D, and head-tracking support. Development is active.
Getting started
Windows, Linux, and macOS builds are available on the project's release page; OpenBSD and FreeBSD users can also install it directly through their system's package manager.
History
The project was originally started by Randy Davis and open-sourced in 2010, after which development was continued by the Visual Pinball development team; this repository is the official continuation.
