About
Pac-Man is Namco's 1980 arcade maze-chase game in which the player eats dots while avoiding four ghosts, gaining the temporary ability to eat those ghosts after collecting large flashing Power Pellets. Xchomp is a Pac-Man clone for the X Window System, version 1.1, written by Jerry J. Shekhel from memory of the arcade original rather than from its source code. It adds several different mazes, a feature the author felt was missing from the original game.
How it differs from the original
Unlike the arcade original, Xchomp offers several different mazes to play through, since the author felt the single-maze design of Pac-Man was a missed opportunity.
Getting started
Xchomp is controlled entirely with the keyboard arrow keys, which behave like a joystick held in a direction. The game can be paused with the space bar or by iconifying the window, aborted back to the title screen with 'R' while paused, and quit entirely with 'Q'.
