About

In Pursuit of Greed is a 1995 science-fiction first-person shooter for MS-DOS, developed by Mind Shear Software and published by Softdisk. xGreed is a source port of In Pursuit of Greed that adds software-rendered support for double the original resolution (640x400, with the original 320x200 still available as an option), mouse-look with WASD movement, a launcher application, and PNG screenshots; audio is handled via BASS.DLL. It's distributed as Windows binaries, with the latest listed release at version 1.1.12.55.

How it differs from the original

Compared to the DOS original, xGreed adds mouse-look and WASD movement, doubles the rendering resolution to 640x400 while still supporting the original 320x200, and replaces the original's audio and blit handling with BASS.DLL and DirectDraw.

Getting started

xGreed needs data extracted from the original DOS installer: the GREED.BLO data file and the game's *.mod and *.s3m music files, plus optionally the MOVIES folder's *.fli animations from the original CD. These must be placed alongside xGreed.exe, or located via the included Launcher application.

Requires original assets. Requires the GREED.BLO data file and music files (*.mod, *.s3m) from the original DOS game; optionally can use MOVIES folder with animations.
