About
Bloodborne is FromSoftware's 2015 gothic action-RPG, known for its fast, aggressive combat and Lovecraftian horror atmosphere set in the city of Yharnam. Yarntown is a free fan tribute that reimagines Bloodborne's atmosphere and structure inside a Zelda-like top-down action-adventure framework, built by a solo developer using the Solarus engine. It's explicitly not for sale — the creator instead sells some of the original artwork made for the game separately.
How it differs from the original
Where Bloodborne is a 3D, third-person action-RPG, Yarntown reworks the same beast-hunting, lantern-checkpoint structure into 2D top-down Zelda-like combat and exploration — dodge-rolling, charged weapon swings, and a pistol for ranged damage, with death resetting progress to the last lantern visited.
Getting started
Runs on Mac and Linux via the Solarus engine's launcher (linked from the game's page); a source-code build is available for other platforms. Controls: arrow keys to move, Space to dodge-roll, C to swing (hold to charge), X to shoot the pistol, V to heal with a blood vial, D to pause/save. Gamepad support is inconsistent — some controllers work, others don't.
