About
Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike is Capcom's 1999 competitive fighting game, still played at a high level today, originally arcade-only and later ported to PlayStation 2. 3SX is a native PC/Mac/Linux port of Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, continuing directly from the 3s-decomp decompilation project. Unlike emulation-based options, it runs as native C code with GekkoNet-based rollback netcode for online play, and aims to fix arcade-balance regressions that were introduced in the PS2 version.
How it differs from the original
The project positions itself against three existing ways to play 3rd Strike today — emulation (hard to mod, weak controller/Linux/macOS support), the 30th Anniversary Collection version (considered subpar, no crossplay), and 3rd Strike Online Edition (abandoned, PC-unfriendly) — by offering cross-platform native support, an arcade-accurate balance target, and modern rollback netcode.
Getting started
Requires a legally obtained copy of 3rd Strike or the Street Fighter Anniversary Collection for PS2. Download a release, then either follow the startup wizard to point it at your copy, or manually copy the game's disc image file into the resources folder.
History
3SX continues directly from 3s-decomp, an earlier decompilation project by the same Crowded Street community.
