Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike: 2 Open Source Clones Compared
3SX continues directly from the 3s-decomp decompilation project, turning its decompiled PS2 source into a native, cross-platform build for Windows, Linux, and macOS with GekkoNet-based rollback netcode for online play -- something the PS2-only 3S Decomp project doesn't offer on its own. Both still require a legally obtained copy of 3rd Strike (the original PS2 release or the Anniversary Collection) to run, since 3SX builds on the same decompiled codebase. 3S Decomp itself remains a developer-facing decompilation rather than a standalone playable release, and its CRI middleware support (file system and sound) is still only partially matched.
