About

CAVEZ of PHEAR is a game where the player must escape through a series of caves by collecting all the diamonds in each one; diamonds and money award points, with an extra life every 1000 points. It runs on Linux and includes a built-in map editor for creating custom caves.

Getting started

Move with the arrow keys or the 2-4-8-6 numpad keys; press K to self-destruct if stuck. Bombs are placed with B and detonated all at once with T — placed bombs behave like stones, affected by gravity and able to roll. Monsters must be avoided or killed by dropping stones on them or blowing them up; S toggles sound and W highlights the player's position. To run without installing, compile with CMake and run the resulting binary directly, or install system-wide with a CMake flag; a separate editor mode lets players place objects, save maps, and toggle a lock-mode for arrow-key drawing.

History

CAVEZ of PHEAR was originally written by Tom Rune Flo, with the last version (0.5.1) released on 2011-11-30; it is currently maintained by Dmitry Marakasov.
