The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is a 1991 action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the SNES, the third entry in The Legend of Zelda series. Children of Solarus is a free, open-source 2D game built on the Solarus engine, which must be installed separately to run it, available for Linux, macOS, Windows, and Android; it's a remake of the team's own earlier fangame Zelda Mystery of Solarus DX, rebuilt using entirely free assets.
How it differs from the original
Unlike its Zelda Mystery of Solarus DX predecessor, it uses only free, non-Nintendo assets rather than original Zelda artwork.
Getting started
It requires the separate Solarus engine to be installed in order to run.
