Cloned Games

RuneScape: 3 Open Source Clones Compared

These three servers each target a different snapshot of RuneScape's history rather than the current live game: 2006Scape recreates the 2006-era version, 2009scape recreates the game as it existed around January 2009 (build 530), and Lost City's own documentation says its setup points to an earlier, roughly 2004-era target. They also differ in how they're meant to be played — 2006Scape and Lost City are both compiled and run locally (via Maven/IntelliJ, or an included Node.js start script respectively), while 2009scape's maintainers state they only support connecting to their own community-hosted live server and don't provide support for self-hosted copies.
