About
Dungeons of Daggorath is a 1982 game by DynaMicro, originally for the TRS-80, described in the readme as a text-based '3D' dungeon crawler 'hailed as one of the first 3D shooters.' Its copyright is still held by original author Douglas J. Morgan, who the readme says granted a non-exclusive, permanent, worldwide license to reproduce it. This is a Nintendo 3DS port of Dungeons of Daggorath, adding an original graphical UI on top of the game's original text-based command system, mapped to 3DS buttons and menus (including a command-creator menu and an on-screen keyboard).
How it differs from the original
Unlike the original TRS-80 version's typed text commands, this port lets players issue every original command through 3DS button mappings and menus (e.g. the D-Pad for movement/turning, A/X for attacks, a dedicated command-creator menu), while still supporting free-text command entry via an on-screen keyboard.
Getting started
Playable on 3DS hardware after building the CIA package. The readme documents full button mappings — the D-Pad to move/turn, A and X to attack, L to open the command-creator menu, and Start for the game menu — plus a Command Creator Menu for assembling any valid in-game command.
