About

Ms. Pac-Man is a 1982 arcade maze game by General Computer Corporation, published by Midway as a sequel to Pac-Man. MsPacman 500 is a 1:1 port of the Ms. Pac-Man arcade game to the Amiga 500, written entirely in 68k assembly. It reproduces the original visuals, sounds, ghost behavior and speed, all levels, bonuses and intermissions, and runs at 50 fps (PAL) even on a stock 68000 A500.

How it differs from the original

Because the display is 4:3, scores, lives and bonuses sit at the side rather than the top and bottom, though the playfield layout matches the original. Ghosts in the pen bounce slightly too fast in higher levels.

Getting started

It needs any 68k CPU with Kickstart 1.3 and 512 KB, or Kickstart 2.0 and 1 MB, and runs from the shell or through WHDLoad. Move with the joystick or arrow keys, press fire or space to start or skip intermissions, P to pause, Esc to end a game, and F10 to quit and save high scores.

Known limitations

  • gameplay: Ghosts in pen bounce slightly too fast in high levels.
