About
Pokémon is Game Freak and Nintendo's role-playing game series, which began with Pocket Monsters Red and Green for the Game Boy in 1996. OpMon Lazuli is an open-source, Pokémon-inspired game project now built in Godot, after an earlier C++ version. It is not really playable yet, so no executables are provided, and development has been sporadic.
How it differs from the original
It is designed around its own creatures, moves, items, places and characters, contributed by the community, rather than content from Pokémon.
Getting started
No builds are provided; to try it, install Godot and open the project in the editor.
History
The idea came up in 2012 and development started in September 2016, when the developers were in high school. After several restarts, the team moved from C++ to Godot for what they call the final reboot.
Known limitations
- platform: Game is not playable yet; requires installing Godot engine to run from the project editor.

Additional notes
- Development plan
- The lead developer plans to first recreate Pokémon Emerald privately in Godot to test ideas, then release an open-source game core with no Pokémon assets or data.
